Read&Write

Overview

Read&Write is a software toolbar that helps learners create and access content with the literacy support features they need to successfully understand materials, engage and express themselves. Great for all subjects across the curriculum, Read&Write offers accessibility support with daily tasks like reading text out loud, understanding unfamiliar words, researching assignments, proofing written work and more!

This software is courtesy of Disability Services departments at UAA, UAF, and UAS. All individuals with a UA Account (username@alaska.edu) have unlimited access to Read&Write!

 

What materials do I need?

 

How do I use this technology?

  1. Visit the vendor's TextHelp Read&Write product page.
  2. Scroll down and click on the Try Read&Write button.
  3. Select your operating system/language from the drop down menu.
    • An installer file appropriate for your device will be downloaded to your device.
  4. After the download is complete, double-click on the downloaded installer (e.g. Windows: read&write.exe; macOS: read&write.dmg)
  5. Proceed​ through the installation process for your device.
    • When prompted accept the user terms & conditions.
  6. Once the installation is complete, open the Read&Write application.
  7. When prompted, choose Sign in with Microsoft.
  8. Enter your UA Account credentials (i.e. uausername@alaska.edu and password) to login and start exploring!
