Overview
An Apple Account (formally Apple ID) is the means by which individuals create an identity with Apple, which can be used to access various Apple services such as Apple TV, Apple Music, iCloud, Apple Stores, etc., as well as provides means via Apple's iCloud to help Apple devices work seamlessly together. University of Alaska (UA) students, staff, faculty, alumni, and others who are using a UA email address with their personal (i.e. non-UA) Apple Account, or who use it as a recovery email address with Apple, are encouraged to change to a different, non-UA email address.
If you change your Apple Account primary email address:
- You won’t lose access to your contacts, purchases, or other account information.
- You can’t use an email address that’s already in use by another Apple Account.
Notify anyone who might contact you on Messages, FaceTime, or other Apple apps using your previous Apple Account email address.
