Login to the Synology Surveillance Station Client


This article explains how pre-authorized users can log into the Synology Surveillance Station Client used to view surveillance cameras and recordings at the Mat-Su College campus.



This article is specific to the surveillance camera system in use at the Mat-Su College campus.

Only users that have already been granted access to the Mat-Su College surveillance camera system will be able to follow this article. If you need access, ask your supervisor to submit a Add or Remove Person Access to Video Surveillance request.
Access to the Mat-Su College surveillance camera system is only available to authorized users while on the Mat-Su College campus network. Remote or off-site access is unavailable. 

What materials do I need?

  • A Windows or Mac computer on the Mat-Su College campus network.

How do I use this technology?

  1. Open Software Center.
  2. Search for Synology.

  3. Click on Synology Surveillance Station.

  4. Click on Install.

  5. Close Software Center after install completes.
  6. Click on the Start Menu.
  7. Just start typing Synology to search for the recently installed program. The Start Menu will automatically change to a search menu.

  8. Click on the search result Synology Surveillance Station Client.

  9. In the top field, type cameras.matsu.alaska.edu
  10. In the middle field, type your UA username
  11. In the bottom field, type your UA password
  12. Select the HTTPS checkbox and click on Sign In

  13. Click on Proceed anyway when the SSL Certificate notice appears

  14. Here is a rundown of the various options you will see once signed in:

    • Monitor Center is to view the all the cameras you have access to in real time.
    • Recording is to view past events (dependant on your level of access).
    • The person icon in the upper right is to Logout.
