Body
Service Expiration Dates are a function of temporary employees. In order to maintain compliance with the State of Alaska Division of Retirement and Benefits, a temporary position must truly be temporary in nature. As such, once temporary employees work 750 hours in a 12 month period as calculated from their first day of employment with UA, they will be given a Service Expiration Date that allows for the temporary employee to work another 12 months before needing to take a required four month (9 full pay periods) in service. The University of Alaska is one employer and the 750 hour calculation will apply to all temporary positions concurrently.
Service Expiration Dates can be found in Banner. The date will populate on PEAEMPL. When you navigate to that screen, click on More Information found on the right side of the screen under the Start Over button. The Temporary Service Expiration Date will show up in a pop-up screen. If there is no date populated, then the employee has not worked 750 hours in the past 12 months.
