How do I identify and report a projector lamp failure?
If your projector is not displaying an image, is unusually dim, or is showing a warning light, the lamp may need to be replaced. Common signs include:
- No image on screen despite the projector being powered on
- A dim, faded, or flickering image
- A red or orange lamp indicator light on the projector body
- An on-screen message such as “Lamp life low” or “Replace lamp”
- The projector powers on but shuts itself off within seconds
Do not attempt to replace the lamp yourself. Once you have identified the issue, contact UAA IT to submit a replacement request (see the “Need Additional Help” section below).
When submitting your request, please include:
- Your name and UAA email address
- The building name and room number where the projector is located
- A brief description of what you observed (e.g., no image, warning light, on-screen message)
- Whether the projector is needed urgently for an upcoming class or event
Is there any additional information I should know about?
- Projector lamps have a limited lifespan and will need periodic replacement — this is normal.
- Do not attempt to open the projector casing or handle the lamp. Lamps operate under high pressure and can cause injury if mishandled.
- Allow the projector to cool for at least 30 minutes before anyone handles it.
- Response times may vary depending on parts availability. If you have an urgent need (e.g., a class or event within 24–48 hours), please note this in your request.
