Manage Issue Categories

Information to help project managers to create and manage Issue Categories using the TDNext interface.

Overview

Project Issue Categories are how similar kinds of Issues can be grouped together for reporting needs, or just to keep them separated from non-similar Issues.

Important
Individuals must have access to the Projects application, be a resource on a project, and be able to add Issues.

Create Issue Category

When a new issue is created, the user must assign it to a category.

To create an issue category:

  1. Login to ESM TDWorkManagement.
  2. Click View Applications.
  3. Click Projects.
  4. Open the appropriate Project.
  5. The Project will open in a new application tab.
  6. Click Issues.
  7. Click Categories to open the Issue Categories side panel.
  8. Click + Add.
  9. In the Add Category dialog window, enter a name in the Category Name field.
  10. Click the Save button.

The new category will now appear in the category dropdown list on the new issues page.

Rename Issue Category

To rename an issue category:

  1. Login to ESM TDWorkManagement.
  2. Click View Applications.
  3. Click Projects.
  4. Open the appropriate Project.
  5. The Project will open in a new application tab.
  6. Click Issues.
  7. Click Categories to open the Issue Categories side panel.
  8. In the issue categories list, click the Edit link on the right end of the row for the category to rename.
  9. Edit the name in the Name field.
  10. Click the Save link found to the right of your renamed category.

Delete Issue Category

An issue category cannot be deleted if there are any issues using the category. To delete the category the issues could either be reassigned to different issue categories, or the issues would need to be deleted entirely. Before doing this, decide if renaming the category would serve your purpose. If yes, follow the instructions above.  

To delete an issue category:

  1. Login to ESM TDWorkManagement.
  2. Click View Applications.
  3. Click Projects.
  4. Open the appropriate Project.
  5. The Project will open in a new application tab.
  6. Click Issues.
  7. Click Categories to open the Issue Categories side panel.
  8. In the issue categories list, click the Delete link on the right end of the category row.
  9. Click OK in the confirmation popup.

Need additional help or have issues

For support, requests may be submitted anytime using the appropriate Enterprise Service Management form. Requests generate a Ticket which will be worked in order received and urgency by IT Employees with the knowledge and permissions to assist with the request.
