Add a Project Risk

This article provides information on how to add a risk to a request or project Risks Register within the Enterprise Service Management (ESM) system.

Overview

Project risk management usually begins during the request phase and continues throughout the project lifecycle. Risks can be either threats (hurt), or opportunities (help) to the project.

What materials do I need?

  • Internet access
  • Web browser
  • TDWorkManagement access

How do I use this technology?

  1. Login to ESM TDWorkManagement.
  2. Click View Applications.
  3. Click Projects.
  4. Open the appropriate Project.
  5. The Project will open in a new application tab.
  6. From the left sub navigation, click Risk Register.
  7. Click the + New button.
    1. The New Risk side panel will open.
    2. Enter a descriptive Title.
    3. Select the risk's Category from the drop-down.
      Note

      By default all requests and project start with a single category named General. Additional categories can be added as appropriate. Common categories include budget, scope, resources, sponsorship, and technology.

      To add a new category, click the New Category (+) button to the right of the Category drop-down menu.

    4. Select if the risk is a Threat or Opportunity.
      Note
      Risks can either be threats that are harmful to the project if they are realized or opportunities that help the overall project. Opportunities and threats have different response strategies available to them.
    5. Enter a Description.
    6. Click Save.

Need additional help or have issues

For support, requests may be submitted anytime using the appropriate Enterprise Service Management form. Requests generate a Ticket which will be worked in order received and urgency by IT Employees with the knowledge and permissions to assist with the request.
