Get Started with Project Briefcase

Summary

This introduction article will help individuals to understand and use the Briefcase feature in the Enterprise Service Management system.

Body

Overview

The Briefcase within the Enterprise Service Management (ESM) system gives project team members the ability to add and share files and folders. Specifically, the briefcase allows for files to be uploaded to relative projects, portfolios, etc. without needing to create a ticket. By uploading to a project briefcase, for example, it become obvious the file is related to said project.

Important

A project's briefcase is rather temporary in nature. Authorized individuals may access a files within a project's briefcase at anytime while the project is active. However, once the project is closed/completed the file(s) are no longer accessible. Any document which should be retained with long-term access should be added to the ESM system's File Cabinet as a permanent file repository.

Often project managers will add files to the document repository such as project artifacts (e.g., project scope document, issues log, lesson’s learned document) to maintain permanent access to these items or share with other individuals.

Additional information relating to the ESM File Cabinet can be found in Get Started with Project File Cabinet KB article.
