Overview
Within the Enterprise Service Management (ESM) system consumable items have a defined set of attributes. While a few are required (e.g. Name), many are optional. This article will identify the attributes and functionality associated with consumable items.
Consumable Item Attributes

|
A descriptive name of the consumable item. In some cases this may be fairly generic (e.g. Compressed Air Duster, 10 oz.), in other cases it may be much more specific (e.g. HP 37X Black High Yield Toner Cartridge). |
| Active |
|
Indicates if consumable item is available for use. Options are Active or Inactive. |
| Description |
|
Succinct text used to identify, clarify, and distinguish a consumable item from other similar goods. |
| Supplier |
|
The vendor most typically used to purchase the consumable item. |
| Unit Cost |
|
The current cost to repurchase a single unit of this item. Unit cost is not calculated automatically from the package cost and count. |
| Package Cost |
|
The cost to purchase a full package, for items typically bought in bulk. |
| Units per Package |
|
The number of individual units contained in a package. |
| Chargeback Cost |
|
The cost passed along to other parts of your organization when this item is used. |
| Barcode |
|
The manufactor's or supplier's UPC or similar product code that uniquely identifies the consumable item. |
| Service Tag |
|
The organization-defined tag for the consumable. |
| Location |
|
Optional. The location that stores the initial quantity. If left blank, the quantity is stored under the Unassigned location. You can add other locations after the item is created. |
| Room |
|
Optional. The room within the selected location that stores the initial quantity. |
| Current Quantity |
|
The starting on-hand quantity, stored at the selected location/room (or the Unassigned location if none is selected). |
| Reorder Quantity |
|
Reorder this item when on-hand inventory drops to this level. |
| Reorder Count |
|
The number of units to order when restocking this consumable. |
| Reorder Package Count |
|
The number of packages to order when restocking this consumable. |
| Owner |
|
The person that owns this consumable. |
| Owning Group |
|
The ESM group that owns this consumable. |
| Owning Acct/Dept |
|
The department that owns this consumable. |
| Attachments |
|
One, or more, files can be attached to the consumable as desired. |

For support, requests may be submitted anytime using the appropriate Enterprise Service Management form. Requests generate a Ticket which will be worked in order received and urgency by IT Employees with the knowledge and permissions to assist with the request.
