Off-Campus Calling

Overview

On and after 24 October 2021, all off-campus and between-campus calls will require the use of 10-digit dialing. On-campus calls will continue to function with 5-digit dialing. This change is due to a national change that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has communicated around the implementation of the National Suicide Prevention Hotline which will be accessed by dialing 988 from any phone.

How do I use this technology?

Dialing a Local call from a campus telephone

1. Press [8] for external access
2. Dial [907] + phone number

Dialing a Long Distance call from a campus telephone

1. Press [8] for external access
2. Press [1] for long-distance access
3. Dial area code + phone number.

Dialing an International call from a campus telephone

1. Press [8] for external access
2. Dial [011] for international access
3. Dial [Country Code]
4. Dial [City Code]
   • If 0 is the first digit, omit it
5. Dial [Phone Number]
6. Dial [#]
7. Dial [Long Distance Access Code]
   • If you do not have one, submit an Add or Change a Long Distance Access Code request to the Technical Support Center.
8. Dial [#]

For support, requests may be submitted anytime by Requesting Support for the Support for Issues with Phones service. Support Requests are worked by Priority based on the Impact and Urgency of need as well as the order they are received by the IT Employees with the knowledge and permissions to assist with the request.
