Can F-1 Students Work Remotely?

F-1 Students who are working while school is in session are limited to 20 hours per week and must be working on campus. No remote work is allowed. F-1 students are expected to attend their courses in-person and must be full-time to maintain their immigration status.

  • Undergraduate F-1 students are required to register for 12 credits, 3 of which can be via distance/online.

  • Graduate F-1 students are required to register for 9 credits, 3 of which can be via distance/online.

Please coordinate directly with your campus International Student Office when handling these situations to make sure that all international compliance requirements are being met.

*UAS does not currently have the legal ability to hire international students and does not have an international student office for that purpose. Please contact the UAF office for assistance.
