Add My New Smartphone for Duo Mobile

What materials do I need?

  • Web browser (i.e. Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Apple Safari, etc.)
  • An internet connection
  • iOS or Android-based smartphone
  • Duo Mobile app installed on your smartphone
  • The same phone number associated with Duo
  • UA username and current UA password

How do I use this technology?

  1. Launch any UA web service that requires Duo. For example, UAOnline, Blackboard, UA Google Workspace, me.UAA, etc.
  2. Log into that service with your UA username and current password.
  3. Click the Other options link.
    • If you have a Security key as one of your devices, you may need to click the Cancel button on the Security Key prompt.
  4. At the bottom of the list, click Manage devices.

  5. Click on Phone call to verify your idenity.
    • If you have more than one Phone call option, make sure the number matches Duo Push.

  6. Answer the verification phone call from Duo.
  7. Follow the instructions in the call.
  8. After verifying your identity on the phone, return to your browser.
  9. Answer the question, "Is this your device?"
  10. For the listed device which is your smartphone, click the I have a new phone link.

  11. Start setting up your phone by clicking the Get started button.
  12. Confirm your phone number by clicking the Call my phone button.
  13. Enter the passcode from the phone call.
  14. Click the Verify button.
  15. If you haven't already, download Duo Mobile on your phone from your app store.
  16. Once the Duo Mobile app is installed, return to your browser.
  17. Click the Next button.
  18. In the Duo Mobile app, tap the + Add.
  19. Tap Use QR code.
  20. Point your phone to the QR code on your computer screen to scan the code.

  21. Return to your browser.
  22. Click the Continue button.
  23. Click the Back to login link in the upper right.
  24. Follow the MFA prompt to log in to the UA web service you started from.

Is there any additional information I should know about?
