Get Started with PrinterLogic

Summary

This article outlines how a university employee can manage department printer(s) on a macOS or Windows computer using the PrinterLogic application.

Body

Overview

PrinterLogic is the system the university uses to connect your computer to campus printers. Instead of hunting for printer names or IP addresses, you pick a printer from a map or list and PrinterLogic installs it, driver and all, in a few seconds.

PrinterLogic is made by Vasion, so you may also see it called Vasion Print. It has three parts you will run into:

Part What it is Where you see it
PrinterLogic client A small app that runs in the background and installs printers for you Printer icon in the Mac menu bar or Windows system tray
Self-service Portal A web page listing every printer you can use, often on a building floor map Opens when you click the client icon and choose Add Printer
Browser extension Lets the Self-service Portal talk to the client from your web browser Your browser's extensions list (Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari)

Next Steps

The following articles will walk you through the process of installing the Printerlogic / Vasion Print client, if necessary, and using the software to locate and install desired printers on your university owned computer.
