Overview

This article gives step-by-step instructions for downloading and installing GlobalProtect VPN on your personal Windows computer.

Important
This article applies to personal Windows computers not managed by UAA. For UAA-managed computers, GlobalProtect should be pre-installed. If it’s not, please install it from the Windows Software Center.

In this article:

What materials do I need?

  • Windows computer running Windows 10 or later
  • Stable internet connection
  • Web browser
  • Web browser (i.e. Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Apple Safari, etc)
  • Current UA password
  • Duo MFA device

How do I use this technology?

  1.  In a web browser, go to https://uaa.vpn.alaska.edu.
  2.  Log in using your UA username and current password.
  3.  Click the download link for your type of Windows (32-bit / 64-bit).
    Note
    Most, if not all, modern Windows computers within the last decade are 64-bit systems. To verify, view your PC info.

  4. After the download completes, launch the download installer file.
  5. At the Welcome to GlobalProtect Setup Wizard screen, click Next >.

  6. At the Select Installation Folder screen, keep the default folder, and the click Next > button.

  7. At the Confirm Installation screen click Next >.

  8. Click Install (allow .msi file to make changes), and wait for the installation to complete.
