Connect to UAA GlobalProtect VPN

Overview

Use GlobalProtect to connect to the Virtual Private Network (VPN) at the University of Alaska Anchorage. Members of the university community can use the VPN service at no cost to securely connect university resources remotely.

  • Windows or Mac computer
  • GlobalProtect VPN
  • Preferred web browser
  • Internet connection

 

How do I use this technology?

  1. Open the GlobalProtect application.
    • In Windows, it may be hidden in your System Tray on the bottom-right of the screen. If it is not there, open it from Windows Search.

    • In Mac, it will be located on the right of the top menu bar. If it is not there, open it from Spotlight Search.

  2. In the text field, type in uaa.vpn.alaska.edu for the portal address.

  3. Click the Connect button.
  4. Your system's preferred web browser will open to this page.

  5. Enter your UA username and password.
  6. Click the Sign-in button.

  7. For UA employees, you must approve your Multi-Factor Authentication.

  8. Your browser may ask you to open GlobalProtect. If that is the case, click the Open GlobalProtect button.

  9. Your browser will redirect you to this Authentication Complete page. This indicates that you have been signed-in successfully to GlobalProtect.

  10. Check the GlobalProtect window.
  11. The GlobalProtect icon will turn blue, and it will state Connected.

For additional support, requests may be submitted anytime using the appropriate Request Support form. Requests generate a Ticket which will be worked in order received and urgency by IT Employees with the knowledge and permissions to assist with the request.
