Connect device to Apple Configurator 2
Apple TV
- Make sure that your Mac computer running Configurator is on the same network as the Apple TV.
- Unbox Apple TV and Plug into power, network, and monitor, DO NOT TOUCH the remote.
- From within Apple Configurator, click on the Apple Configurator menu and then click Paired Devices.
- It should see the Apple TV on the network and allow you to pair to it. Click on the Apple TV in the box and then click Pair. A 4 digit code will display on the monitor. Enter this code to pair your computer to the Apple TV.
iPad and iPhone
- Connect device to your Mac Computer with the USB cable.
Prepare Device
- Click on the device in Apple Configurator 2.
- Click the Prepare button at the top of the page.
- Make sure that your first screen looks like the following and click Next.
- Make sure that on the page where you are choosing the MDM server to manage the device is pointing to your Jamf server and click Next.
- Make sure that on the page where you assign it to an Organization that is is pointing to the University of Alaska Anchorage and click Next.
- At the Setup Assistant customization screen, select Don't show any of these steps, then click Next.
- At the Choose Network Profile screen, choose the Wi-Fi profile that was previously created and then click Prepare.
Assign Device to Jamf
- Login to Apple School Manager with your managed Apple ID.
- Click on the link on the left called Devices.
- Search for the serial number of the Mac Computer you are working on.
- Select it and in the right-hand pane at the top, click Edit MDM Server.
- Choose Assign to the following MDM.
- From the drop-down, select jamf.uaa.alaska.edu.
- Click Continue.
- Wait about 5 minutes.
- Reboot the Device. At this time, if it is an Apple TV, it should auto-process through the stages for first time setup. If it is an iPad or iPhone, walk through the opening steps.
