Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) regarding the SolidWorks software by Dassault Systèmes.

Do you provide SolidWorks for free?

Due to the limited number of licenses, the UAA College of Engineering (CoEng) does not provide SolidWorks licenses for students to use on personal, non-UAA-owned computers. Priority is given to students who require them for specific Mechanical Engineering (ME) courses. To request a license or for general inquiries, please reach out to the CoEng employees below, as we do not provide support for SolidWorks licensing or software:

 

I cannot run SolidWorks on my computer. Is there another way to access SolidWorks for free?

We have worked with the UAA CoEng on setting up virtual computers that contain SolidWorks, available for free for active CoEng students. To learn more, please visit the following Knowledge articles:

Additionally, the UAA CoEng has an open-computer lab with SolidWorks pre-installed on the computers.

 

What are some additional learning resources for SolidWorks?

Students have free access to my.solidworks.com, which is an extensive online learning portal. Watch how to sign up and access the portal.

 

I am a UAA employee. How can I obtain a SolidWorks license for non-individual use?

You must coordinate with your departmental admin and submit a Software Request ticket.

 

Need additional help or have issues

For questions or issues using SolidWorks software, you must contact DELMIAWorks Services and Support directly.

For UAA employees installing SolidWorks software on a UAA computer, requests may be submitted anytime using the appropriate Install Software form. Requests generate a Ticket, which will be worked on in order of received and urgency by UAA Employees with the knowledge and permissions to assist with the request.

For UAA employees needing assistance purchasing a SolidWorks license, please review your software request ticket and submit a notified comment to the department responsible for processing it.

For UAA students needing VDI or computer lab support, requests may be submitted anytime using the appropriate Support for Virtual Computer Environments or Questions or Assistance with Computer Labs form, respectively. Requests generate a Ticket which will be worked in order received and urgency by UAA Employees with the knowledge and permissions to assist with the request.
