Migrating Foxit PDF Editor License to New Cloud Console License

Overview

The University is moving to a new cloud-based management console for Foxit PDF Editor. This will require removing some files from the computer and then activate Foxit PDF Editor again with the new activation server. This guide will walk you through the files that need to be removed as well as how the process for activating to the new cloud console.

In order to complete the following task you will need administrative access to the computer, and should be comfortable accessing files located in hidden folders on your computer. If you would like assistance submit a Foxit PDF Editor ticket.

How do I use this technology?

Removing Link to On-Prem Console

The following folders/files need to be removed from the computer prior to new activation, for each user profile that may have activated Foxit PDF Editor on that machine. These files may or may not exist on the target machine. If they exist, they need to be removed.

Windows Machines:

  • C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Foxit Software\Foxit PDF Editor\cacheData/
  • C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Foxit Software\Foxit PDF Editor\Foxit Cloud FOXIT.UAA.ALASKA.EDU/
  • C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Foxit Software\Foxit PDF Editor\pheecws.foxit.uaa.alaska.edu/
  • C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Foxit Software\Foxit PDF Editor\fpmkey.txt
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Foxit Software\Foxit PDF Editor\fpcsdk.config

Mac Machines:

  • ~/Library/Application Support/Foxit Software/

Activating Foxit PDF Editor against New Cloud Console

This section will walk you through activating Foxit PDF Editor against our Cloud Console.

  1. Open Foxit PDF Editor.
  2. Click Activate.

  3. Click Sign In.

  4. Click SSO Login.

  5. Enter your UA email address and click Login.

  6. Enter your UA email address at the Office 365 Authentication Screen and click Next.

  7. Enter you UA password and click Sign In.

  8. Click the Yes button to stay signed in.

  9. Choose University of Alaska with your email address.

  10. You will get a message that Foxit PDF Editor will need to restart to apply the settings. Click Ok and Foxit PDF Editor will then restart.

  11. Once restarted, you will get a notification that Foxit PDF Editor has successfully registered your formal license key.

Congratulations, you are now fully connected and activated against the new Cloud Console.

 

Need additional help or have issues

For support, requests may be submitted anytime using the appropriate Foxit PDF Editor form. Requests generate a Ticket which will be worked in order received and urgency by IT Employees with the knowledge and permissions to assist with the request.

The Foxit PDF Editor software is available through a centrally managed University of Alaska system license agreement. Departments can purchase licenses from this agreement for use by Staff, Faculty, and Students, whether for administrative duties, or academic work.
