Zoom provides easy to use remote conferencing services that combine video conferencing, online meetings, chat, and mobile collaboration.

In this article:

What materials do I need?

  • Active in the University of Alaska (UA) System
    • Students who have registered for at least 1 credit through UAOnline within the past year, or
    • Employees with an active job status
  • UA username and current UA password
    • If you forgot your UA username or password, please visit the ME.UAA account recovery website.
  • Internet access
  • Web browser (i.e. Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Apple Safari, etc)
  • Zoom supports a wide variety of operating systems, and devices. For a detailed list of supported devices and platforms review Zoom's System Requirements for PC, Mac, and Linux documentation.

How do I use this technology?

The following core capabilities are available with Zoom.

  • High quality video, audio, screen sharing
  • Up to 300 attendees can participate in Zoom meetings
  • UA has webinar licenses available for up to 500 Zoom webinar participants
  • H.323/SIP room systems integration
  • Easy-to-use tools for online collaboration including screen sharing and co-annotation tools, breakout rooms, polling, and white-boarding
  • Allows for high-quality recordings of meetings, and subsequent downloading of those recordings as MP4 files
  • Multi-Platform client for macOS, Windows, iOS, and Android

Zoom is accessible via web browsers, as well as desktop and mobile client applications. You may find yourself using one, or more of these options as you participate in various Zoom meetings.

Start using Zoom

  1. Go to the University of Alaska Zoom login portal, alaska.zoom.us.
  2. Click the blue Sign In button.

  3. Log in to your UA account.

  4. If this is your first time logging into your UA Zoom account, Zoom will email your UA email address to activate your account.
  5. Once you're signed in, you should see the following landing page.

  6. To further verify you're logged in to your UA Zoom account, click on your profile picture in the top-right corner of the page. It should have your full name, your UA email address, and a Licensed badge.

  7. Congratulations, you've successfully accessed your UA Zoom account!
