Software Request

Service Description

This service is used to submit review/approval requests for software that isn't currently offered/available within the University of Alaska system.

Important

Before submitting a request to purchase software, please review the following articles relating to currently vetted software:

Tip
Departments looking to purchase Adobe Creative Cloud license(s) do not need to submit a Software Request form. Instead submit a Adobe Creative Cloud request.
Attention
Currently all software requests must be reviewed annually. However, we are working to eliminate this requirement in an upcoming version.

Eligibility

Software requests may only be submitted by current Staff, or Faculty of the University of Alaska system. Students interested in utilizing software not currently available within the University of Alaska's software catalog on university owned computers, should contact their faculty adviser for assistance.

Required Information

Before submitting a ticket, please have the following information ready:

  • Title of software
  • Name of vendor for software
  • Associated costs for the software
  • URL of vendor's website for the software
  • Specify whether assistance is needed by IT Services to install the software
  • Specify if the software will contact FERPA protected data
  • Indicate if the software handles and form of payment processing

Access to some software may be restricted to specific eligible groups.
