Organize Your Content with Modules and Folders in Ultra Course View

Overview

Ultra allows you to organize course content in two ways: Learning Modules and Folders.

What's the difference between Learning Modules and Folders?

Learning Modules Folders
Can customize title and description Can customize title and description
Can navigate directly between items as a student Can only view items one-at-a-time as a student
Can contain one level of folders Can contain one level of folders
Cannot contain another learning module Cannot contain a learning module
Can add a customizable image Cannot visually customize; only displays a folder icon
Can enable forced sequencing

Cannot enable forced sequencing in a folder on its own. Folders within a module can be part of a forced sequence in that Module, but not on their own

On the Faculty Success Blackboard Ultra page, you can learn about using Ultra, the UAA timeline for transitioning, comparing Ultra and Original course views, and more.

Though completing the Ultra training is no longer required to teach in Ultra for Fall 2025 and beyond, it is still a great resource! We encourage you to register for the Ultra course conversion training. We have compiled helpful walkthroughs, videos, and instructional design materials into an asynchronous training that you can complete at your own pace. Completing the training course doesn’t require you to teach in Ultra, so it is a great opportunity to explore and determine when you want to make the transition to Ultra.
