Change Display Inputs with the A/V Switcher

Overview

This article explains how to operate the Extron A/V switcher installed in most Mat-Su College classrooms. The switcher allows users to select between various input sources for displaying content on the classroom projector or television. Understanding which input corresponds to which device will help ensure smooth transitions during lectures and presentations.

Switching Between Inputs

Warning
Never use the projector or television remotes to switch inputs. Doing so may disrupt the A/V system configuration and prevent the correct source from displaying. Always use the Extron A/V switcher to select your input.
  1. Locate the Extron switcher inside the podium.
  2. Press the button labeled with the desired input number:
    • Press 3 to use the podium computer.
    • Press 4 to use the document camera (if available).
    • Press 5 to use the DVD player (if available).
    • Press 6 to use a personal device connected via HDMI.
  3. Confirm the display updates to show the selected input source.
Tip
If nothing appears on the screen, ensure the device is powered on and properly connected.

Is There Any Additional Information I Should Know About?

If you're using a personal device, some laptops may require you to manually switch display modes (e.g., Extend or Duplicate). For help with adapters (e.g., USB-C to HDMI), contact your campus’s tech support or visit the IT Services desk.
