Install Foxit PDF Editor

Overview

The Foxit PDF Editor is UA's recommended alternative to Adobe Acrobat Pro. The software has comparable features to the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Pro DC and is compatible with current macOS and Windows operations systems. The software is available through a centrally managed University of Alaska system license agreement and is available at no cost to university staff, faculty, and students.

This article walks you through installing and activating Foxit PDF Editor on a personal computer or a University computer that is not on the domain. 

You need to be on the UA Network in order to be able to dowload this software. Either on campus or connected to VPN. Here is an article on how to do that.

Download and Install Foxit PDF Editor on a personal computer

This section will walk you through downloading and installing the Foxit PDF Editor on a personal computer.

  1. Click on the appropriate installer for your computer below.
  2. After the download is complete, double-click on the downloaded installer.
  3. Proceed​ through the installation process for your device.
    • When prompted accept the user terms & conditions.

Download and Install Foxit PDF Editor on a UAA-issued Windows computer

This section will walk you through downloading and installing the Foxit PDF Editor on a UAA-issued Windows computer.

  1. Open Windows Search on the bottom-left of the screen.
  2. Search for Software Center.
  3. Open Software Center.
  4. Click Foxit PDF Editor.
  5. Click the Install button.
  6. After it installs, the green button will say Uninstall. This indicates that the app was successfully installed.

Download and Install Foxit PDF Editor on a UAA-issued Mac computer

This section will walk you through downloading and installing the Foxit PDF Editor on a UAA-issued Mac computer.

  1. Open Spotlight Search on the top-right of the screen.
  2. Search for Software Portal.
  3. Open Software Portal.
  4. Click Foxit PhantomPDF.
  5. Click the Install button.
  6. After it installs, the button will say Uninstall. This indicates that the app was successfully installed.

Activate Foxit PDF Editor

Once Foxit PDF Editor is installed, you need to activate it. This section will walk you through activating Foxit PDF Editor.

  1. Open Foxit PDF Editor.
  2. Click Activate.

  4. Click SSO Login.

  5. Type in your UA email address.
  6. Click Login.

  7. Enter your UA email address at the Office 365 Authentication Screen.
  8. Click Next.

  9. Enter your UA password.
  10. Click Sign In.

  11. Click the Yes button to stay signed in.

  12. Click the University of Alaska Organization Service button.

  13. You will get a message that Foxit PDF Editor will need to restart to apply the settings. Click OK and Foxit PDF Editor will then restart.

  14. Once restarted, you will get a notification that Foxit PDF Editor has successfully registered your formal license key.

Congratulations, your Foxit PDF Editor is now activated.

Note
A maximum of 3 devices can be activated at a time. Activating another device beyond 3 will deactivate a previous device.
