NEW CMS Coming Soon
UAA is currently working to migrate from our current CMS (OU Campus) to Drupal as part of the Website Modernization Project will implement a new UAA website with improvements to enable prospective and future students to more easily navigate the site and find and compare academic information. More information and training for Drupal will become available in the Fall of 2026.
This work is a top priority for the university’s leadership and will be the sole focus of the ITS Web Applications team over the next several months. In the meantime, requests for new websites or website redesigns are on hold. The new university website will establish standardized design templates for most types of sites, standardized navigation for consistency across like units, and any new work needs to wait until after the new site goes live.
What is a CMS?
The content management system (CMS), empowers UAA academic and administrative units seeking to build official web presence that reflects university branding guidelines. It allows organizations to update their web pages with a user-friendly interface that is available through any current Web browser. The CMS creates a collaborative environment for your web development team. It operates on its own secure server separate from the live website. This means that you can work on pages in your site and then publish them out to the "Live" Server when they are ready. It also saves every 'version' of your content so you can edit and later revert to the older file.
New user trainings will be done online. To get started, email the web team at uaa-its-webapps@alaska.edu. Instructions on what to do next will be sent to you once we set up your personal training portal. Training requests for OUCampus also need to be limited to our video training (https://www.uaa.alaska.edu/util/apps/training/cms) as the ITS team is focused entirely on this extremely high priority project. For content editing help please leverage the web content editors community for peer assistance.
