Overview
The University of Alaska (UA) Account is a unique username that identifies you as a member of the University of Alaska community and is used to access most university systems and electronic resources. Recorded in UA business systems and visible to university employees, the UA Account and password together serve as your official university credentials, with access determined by eligibility and authorization.
UAA uses ME.UAA, a self‑service tool, to establish and manage UA usernames and passwords, providing single‑credential access to most university services. This article applies to all UAA students, staff, and faculty and explains how to change your UA Account password using the ME.UAA password management system at me.uaa.alaska.edu.

Password requirements
Based on the UA system-wide password policies:
- Sixteen (16) characters or longer, this is now referred to as a passphrase.

- Consider three to four words that mean something to you but aren’t related to each other.
- It cannot contain any personal information such as your name, UA username, or UA ID number.
- Different from your last five passwords.

Is there any additional information I should know about?
- The ME.UAA system is not used to set the PIN for UAOnline, that system is managed independently.
