Overview
In this article, the reader will learn to change their password for UA accounts using the Me.UAA password management system is located at http://me.uaa.alaska.edu. This article applies to all UAA students, staff, and faculty users.
Users will need to know their UA user name or an 8-digit UA ID number and be able to satisfactorily prove their identity by answering several questions based on enrollment and employee records. If you are locked out of this system or otherwise unable to proceed during the process, please contact the Service Center for assistance.
What materials do I need?
- Internet access
- A web browser such as Edge, Firefox, Safari or Chrome
- UA domain user name or 8-digit UA ID
- Must meet password complexity requirements.
How do I use this technology?
Setting your Password for the first time:
- To set a new password, access the web page me.uaa.alaska.edu. Click the link, or enter the address directly into your address bar.
- The Me.UAA website provides three options to change your password. New users will want to choose Lookup Username/ID#.
- If you know your UA Username or UA ID number, choose Forgot Password, enter your UA Username or UA ID, and click the Submit button.
- Enter your date of birth, last name, and last four digits of your social security number.
- Click the "Submit" button.
- The site will ask several verification questions based on your enrollment and employee records. Once you have completed these questions, press “Confirm” to proceed.
- On the “Welcome” page you will see your UA ID number, UA user name, a listing of systems you have been granted access to and, on the right-hand side, a box titled “Set / Change your password here”. If you do not see this box, Call IT Services for assistance.
- To set a new password on the Me.UAA “Welcome” page:
- Select your UA user name from the “Username” pull-down menu
- Enter a new password into the “New Password” and “Confirm Password” fields. Your password must be a minimum of 8 characters and contain at least 1 upper case letter, 1 lower case letter, and 1 number.
- Press “Set Password”
- You have now set a new password, press “Sign out” to leave the password management system.
Changing your password:
- Open your preferred web browser.
- Navigate to the web page http://me.uaa.alaska.edu . Either enter this address directly into your address bar, or click “Need your password reset?” on the student email page or “Forgot Password?” on the Blackboard login page.
- Select “Username/ID# & Password”.
- Enter your UA username and password.
- Press “Submit”
- On the “Welcome” page you will see your UA ID number, UA user name, a listing of systems you have been granted access to and, on the right-hand side, a box titled “Set / Change your password here”. If you do not see this box, Call IT Services for assistance.
- To set a new password on the Me.UAA “Welcome” page:
- Select your UA user name from the “Username” pull-down menu
- Enter a new password into the “New Password” and “Confirm Password” fields. Your password must be a minimum of 8 characters and contain at least 1 upper case letter, 1 lower case letter, and 1 number.
- Press “Set Password”
- You have now set a new password, press “Sign out” to leave the password management system.
Password complexity Requirements:
- Eight (8) characters or longer.
- One uppercase, one lowercase, and one numeric character.
- No apostrophe, quote or plus character (‘, ”, or +)
- No words commonly found in the dictionary or personal information like your name, SSN, date of birth, etc.
- Different than your last five passwords.
- Should be changed once a year.
Is there any additional information I should know about?
The me.UAA system is not used to set the PIN for UAOnline, that system is managed independently.
Please note that the verification questions used in the me.UAA system are drawn directly from enrollment and employment records, if you believe them to be in error, please contact the appropriate department, as IT Services cannot change this information.
