Manage Subscribers on a Mailing List

Overview

The following instructions explain how a mailing list owner can add, or remove subscribers to a Mailman mailing list.

How do I use this technology?

Use the web interface

  1. Go to the UAA Mailman admin website for your list.

    https://lists.uaa.alaska.edu/mailman/admin/<listname>

    Replace <listname> with the name of your list.
     
  2. Enter your list admin password in the field, and click Let me in...
  3. Click Membership Management...

From here a variety of options are available, including subscribing, or unsubscribing individuals or multiple people.

Subscribe people

  1. Click Mass Subscription.
  2. Set Subscribe these users now or invite them? to Subscribe.
  3. Set Send welcome messages to new subscribers? to Yes.
  4. Set Send notifications of new subscriptions to the list owner? to No.
  5. In the text box labeled Enter one address per line below... Enter one, or more, email address of the individuals you'd like to subscribe to the list in the following format:
     
    	person1@example.com (FirstName LastName)
    	person2@sample.com
    	person3@somedomain.net (FirstName LastName)
    
     
  6. Click Submit Your Changes.

Unsubscribe people

  1. Click Mass Removal.
  2. Set Send unsubscription acknowledgement to the user? Options are:
    • No: No message will be sent to the individual(s) removed from the list's membership.
    • Yes: A standard message will be sent to the individual(s) removed from the list's membership.
  3. Set Send notifications the list owner? to No.
  4. In the text box labeled Enter one address per line below... Enter one, or more, email address of the individuals you'd like to remove from the list in the following format:
     
    	person4@example.com
    	person5@sample.com
    	person6@somedomain.net
    
     
  5. Click Submit Your Changes.

Need additional help or have issues

For support, requests may be submitted anytime by Requesting Support for the Mailing List service. Support Requests are worked by Priority based on the Impact and Urgency of need as well as the order they are received by the IT Employees with the knowledge and permissions to assist with the request.
