Unsubscribe From a Mailing List

Overview

If you no longer wish to receive email from a non-dynamic Mailing list there are two common ways that you can unsubscribe from a Google Group based mailing list.

In this article:

• Unsubscribe via Email
• Unsubscribe via Web Interface

How do I use this technology?

There are two methods to unsubscribe yourself from a Google Group based mailing list. You only need to use one of these methods. After following one of the options below, you will be sent a confirmation message to the email address provided and must follow the instructions given in the email to complete the unsubscription process. This is to stop people from unsubscribing you without your permission. Additionally, depending on the nature of the list, a moderator may need to approve your unsubscription.

Unsubscribe via Email

1. Open an email program that can access the email account you want unsubscribed from the mailing list.
2. Send a new email message to the list's unsubscribe address, which will be similar to the example below:
   
   <listname>+unsubscribe@alaska.edu
   Note

   The subject, and body of this message will be ignored by Google Groups, so it doesn't matter what you put there.

Unsubscribe via Web Interface

1. Open a web browser and goto the Google Groups site.
2. Login with the Google account associated with your subscription.
3. Click My Groups.
4. From the list, select the group you want to leave.
5. In the upper right corner, click  Leave group.
6. When the confirmation dialog appears, click Yes, leave group.
