Overview
Canva (Free) is available for current University of Alaska students, staff, and faculty. Canva's layouts make it easy for faculty, staff, and students to design professional-looking graphics, posters, social media posts, and more.
Note
Signing up for Canva with your UA account will automatically assign you their Free tier license.
Canva for Education, which previously provided Pro tier licenses to University accounts, no longer applies to Universities.
If as staff or faculty, you need a
Pro license, please work with your department and
UA Procurement to purchase it.
Important
- UAA IT Services does not administer Canva accounts or teams.
Warning
The Canva platform presents several accessibility barriers and should not be considered for use by university staff if accessible design software is required. When creating content in Canva, be sure to follow accessibility guidelines, including adding alt-text to images, checking for color contrast, and using legible text. Please reference the

What materials do I need?
- UA email address and password
- Desktop web browsers such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, Microsoft Edge, etc.
How do I use this technology?
- Navigate to the Canva home page.
- Select Sign up with Google
- Create Canva Account using your UA @alaska.edu email address and password

Is there any additional information I should know about?
- Canva teams are user-generated and may not have Canva for Education tied to that team.
- UAA IT Services does not administer Canva accounts or teams.

For UA Google login support, requests may be submitted anytime using the appropriate Support for a UA Account form. Requests generate a Ticket which will be worked in order received and urgency by UAA Employees with the knowledge and permissions to assist with the request.
