Overview
Generate a temporary one-day (24-hour) bypass code for Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) — ideal for users who need a code before taking a proctored test or need to add a new device.
In this article:
What materials do I need?
- Active in the UA System
- Students who have registered for at least 1 credit through UAOnline within the past year, or
- Employees with an active job status
- UA username and current UA password.
- If you forgot your UA username or password, please visit the ME.UAA account recovery website.
- Internet access
- Web browser (i.e. Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Apple Safari, etc)
- Existing device with Duo already set up, where you can successfully authenticate.
How do I use this technology?
- On an existing device with Duo already set up, where you can successfully authenticate, open your preferred web browser.
- Go to ME.UAA (me.uaa.alaska.edu).
- Click the left green box, Username/ID# & Password.
- Enter your UA username or UA ID #, and your current UA password in the respective fields.

- Click the green Submit button.
- Wait for the page to load.
- Several seconds later, the Duo prompt will appear. Authenticate through Duo.

- On the bottom right of the prompt, click the green Security Settings link.

- Near the middle of the prompt, click Generate one-day passcode.

- Click OK on the warning prompt.

- Notate the 9-digit long bypass code.

- Once you're done, click the green Cancel button at the bottom of the prompt.

- Sign out of ME.UAA.

Need additional help or have issues
For support, requests may be submitted anytime using the appropriate Questions or Assistance with Multi-Factor Authentication form. Requests generate a Ticket which will be worked in order received and urgency by UAA Employees with the knowledge and permissions to assist with the request.
