Connect to UAA WiFi Using from a Windows Device

What is this article about?

This document guides you through connecting to the UAA wireless network with a Microsoft Windows compatible device.

What materials do I need?

  • ​Windows Operating System
  • Wireless Capable Device
  • Unified Directory username & password

How do I use this technology?

Connecting to the WiFi-Public SSID:

  1. Click the wireless or network icon on the right side of taskbar near the clock
  2. A list of available wireless networks should appear
  3. Select a network by clicking on the "UAA WiFi – Public SSID"
    1. (Optional) Check the "Connect Automatically" if you would like your wireless capable device to connect to a UAA wireless network automatically when you're within range
  4. Click the "Connect" button
  5. The status of the wireless or network icon on the right side of the taskbar near the clock should display a different status indicating you are now connected
  6. Open a web browser of your choice (Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari or Internet Explorer)
  7. Browse to any website (like http://www.google.com)
  8. Accept the terms of use policy from the UAA WiFi web page

You are now configured to use the wireless network. This process needs to be performed everytime you access the wireless network.

Connecting to the WiFi-Anchorage SSID:
 
  1. Click the wireless or network icon on the right side of taskbar near the clock
  2. A list of available wireless networks should appear
  3. Select a network by clicking on the "UAA WiFi – Anchorage SSID"
  4. Check the "Connect Automatically" if you would like your wireless capable device to connect to a UAA wireless network automatically when you're within range
  5. Click the "Connect" button
  6. You will be prompted for your UA username and password. Enter your credentials and click OK. You may also be prompted to accecpt a certificate. If you are, you MUST accept the certificate in order to gain access to the wireless network

You are now configured to use the WiFi - Anchorage SSID.

Please note that this How To guide is designed to assist users who are students, staff and faculty of UAA, while working on the UAA campus. Other issues may arise throughout this setup if you are at home, or away from the office.
