Print From Your Device Using MobilePrint

Overview

With the wide range of devices available to the university community, the MobilePrint service allows you to easily print your files via email, online through a web browser, as well as from a traditional computer. This means you can print from your smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop regardless of the operating system you are running. Almost any device that has email and/or web browsers will be able to print to any location that offers the MobilePrint service.

The university community can print documents from their personal device via email, web browser upload, macOS or Windows native printing, Pharos Print app for iOS or Android.

Once you have sent your file to print, you may pay for and release your print job using either the online Print Center or one of the Print Release Stations around campus. You may pick up your print file at any of the printing devices supported by the Managed Print Service.

To pay for your print jobs, you must use your UAA Wolfcard or a Copy/Print card. Students, staff, and faculty may obtain their Wolfcard at the following locations:

  • The Consortium Library's front desk
  • The MatSu campus Student Services office (FSM 101)
  • The Kenai River Campus Student Services office (McLane Commons)

Copy/Print cards can be purchased or renewed at one of the Value Transfer Stations located around campus. Individuals can deposit additional funds on their Wolfbucks account at one of the Value Transfer Stations, by visiting the Wolfcard Office on your respective campus, or online at http://eaccounts.uaa.alaska.edu/.

How do I use this technology?

To help you understand some of the jargon used in the printing services, we have pulled together a short list of some of the terms used in this document.

  • Managed Print: Refers to the overarching printing service offered at UAA in many facilities across campus.
  • MobilePrint: Refers to the ability to print your files from your smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop regardless of the operating system.
  • Print Allocation: All UAA students attending classes at the Anchorage, JBER campuses that have paid the UAA Technology Fee start each semester with a credit of $15.00. This is a non-accumulating credit.
  • Print Release Station: Refers to the physical device, at applicable locations, that is used to send print job(s) to the print devices located in that area.
  • Print Center: Refers to the online website that allows individuals to upload and manage the files they have submitted to print.
  • Release: The act of paying for a print job(s) which causes the file(s) to be printed to the selected print device.

Things To Know

  • For additional information on printing, including a list of available locations, please refer to our Managed Print documentation.
  • Your file will be available to print for up to 2 hours.

Submit Print Files

Option 1: Print Using Your University Email

  1. When you are ready to print, open an email client associated with your University of Alaska email account.
  2. Compose a new message to print.bw@uaa.alaska.edu (for black & white printing) or print.color@uaa.alaska.edu (for color printing).
  3. Attach the file, or files, you want printed. If desired, you can paste your document’s text into the body of the email instead, and the system will read it as a print job. Otherwise, leave the body of the email blank.
    • Please note that each attachment is processed separately.
    • There is a maximum of ten attachments per email accepted.
  4. Click Send.
  5. A print job will be created and held in pending status for each attachment contained in the email. If the email contains text within the body greater 200 characters, it will also generate a print job, of which you can choose to release.

Release Print Jobs via Print Center

Tip
You CANNOT use a Copy/Print Card when using the UAA Print Center to release your print job. You must have funds to cover the total cost of the print job available on your account. The balance of funds on your account is displayed in the lower left corner of the screen under Payment Method.
If you have insufficient funds on your account, you can either add funds to your account and then release your print job, or use the Print Station option with a Copy Card.

  1. In a web browser, visit UAA Print Center.
  2. Login with your UA username & password.
  3. To release your print job(s), click the Select a printer button to display the printer search window. If you start typing the name of the printer, the list will be automatically filtered based upon the text entered. Also, if you use this method of printing consistently, the system will remember your most used printers and have them displayed at the top of the list. If you need help finding the printer near you, look at the label on the printer. All of the printers should be labeled with a printer name that corresponds to the printer in the Select a printer list.
