Days Off Impact on Enterprise Service Management Reports & Resource Management

Overview

Within the Enterprise Service Management (ESM) system, Organizational Days Off is used to account for holidays or any other weekdays on which the entire University of Alaska system is generally considered closed or non-operational. Weekend dates may not be entered as days off because these make no impact on resource allocation. A day off will reduce the capacity of each resource for that day.

Days off are taken into consideration on all capacity-related data and reports. Entering a day off will not change already existing time off entries individuals have made. Days off are also factored into operational time calculations for ticket tasks and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) as appropriate.

The University of Alaska system observes the following 12 paid holidays each year.

  • New Year's Day
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day in Celebration of Alaska Civil Rights
  • Friday of Spring Break
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Fall Holiday
  • Christmas Day
  • The day before or after New Year's, Independence Day, and Christmas are also observed as holidays
