Asset QR Code

The Enterprise Service Management (ESM) system asset/ci module enables the easy management, maintenance, and tracking of inventory items. Each asset entered in to ESM has a unique Quick Response (QR) code assigned. The QR Code can be printed out and affixed to the asset to allow for rapid access to the asset's record within the ESM system which can facilitate equipment loan programs, as well as inventory checks.

QR Codes are only available for items entered as assets within the system. Items entered as configuration items do not have QR Codes available.

The default page formatting of the asset QR Code is designed for printing on standard letter (8.5" x 11") sized paper. Attempting to print the page to a label printer usually results in the layout getting mangled. Read the Print QR Code section below for suggestions on how to make a more label printer friendly document.

Print QR Code

  1. Save the asset QR code.
    1. Right-click image.
    2. Click Save image as...
    3. Select a location on your device to save the image file.
  2. In the application of your choice (e.g. Microsoft Word, Pages, Affinity Publisher, etc.) that is suitable for the type of printer you will be using, create a new document.
  3. Ensure the document size reflects the size of the output label (e.g. 2" x 2", 2" x 4.5", etc.).
    • The QR code without resizing is 1.927" x 1.927".
  4. Import/Place the saved asset QR code image.
  5. Add any additional information to the label (e.g. asset name, serial number, etc.)
  6. Print the label.
  7. Test the label.
    1. Using a QR code scanner (e.g. a smart phone), scan the printed QR code.
    2. You should be prompted to open a webpage in your default web browser, allow it.
      • If you're not already signed in with your UA identity, you will be prompted to login first before proceeding to the asset page.
    3. If the asset page is displayed the label was successfully created.
  8. Affix the label to the asset.
