Overview
The Data & Communications rates help support self-sustaining services provided by UAA IT Services. Rates are approved by the UAA Vice Chancellor of Administrative Services and the Director of Budget before they can be published or billed. Details on rates and the services they support may be found in this article.
Billing for Data & Communications will begin February 2026.
Note
If you would like to make changes to telephone services, please submit a service request through the UAA Service Portal or contact the Technical Support Center (TSC) at 907-786-4646 or uaa.techsupport@alaska.edu to create a request.
Data & Communications Rate
An UAA employee headcount-based rate for network, data, cyber security, and telecommunication services. This rate is based off employee headcount as of October 1 in the prior fiscal year. Using the headcount data, the billing headcount for each d-level is calculated as follow:
- Full time faculty and staff * 1
- Part time faculty and staff * 1/4
- Student workers are not included in the calculation
- Community Campuses receive an additional 10% discount on headcount
(Recognizes local IT support at community campuses)
UAA Anchorage area*, PWSC, Kodiak College - $593.13 per billing headcount
*Anchorage campus units include the Business Enterprise Institute, Student Health & Counseling Center, Business Services, and IT Services.
UAA KPC, Mat-Su College* - $1,346.71 per billing headcount
*These campuses retain their Network Access fee and do not receive a credit for the fee against their rate.
Community campuses and applicable Anchorage campus units will be sent a billing summary and a JV template to complete as part of the billing process, much like the Microsoft expense distribution.
Handset Rate
$116.77 per handset
Covers the replacement cost of the physical desk phone for normal use conditions and life cycle. If a user is primarily using the phone from their computer via the soft phone app, they may elect to turn in their desk phone and avoid paying this rate.
Please note that certain restricted funds, such as grants, will have their annual bill for the Handset Rate split into quarterly installments.
Telephone/Network Line Rate
$559.39 per phone line
A phone or network line rate for non-UAA units that use phone and/or network services on campus. This rate includes network access and usage for non-UAA units.
