Overview
Changing a username can only be done through a legal name change that begins with the user completing a name change form which can be found on UAOnline under the Personal Information tab.
Important
A person's username is generated by the automatically based upon information in Banner. Usernames cannot be manually modified or custom created.
Note
We generally recommend changing/regenerating a UA Username on a Friday, and to not expect the new username to work until Sunday. The primary services "should" be updated by the next day (UA AD, Google Workspace @ UA, Learning Management System), but sometimes it may take up to 2 days.
What materials do I need?
- Internet connectivity
- Web browser
- Your UA Username & password
How do I use this technology?
- Login to UAOnline with your UA Username and password.

- Click Personal Information.

- Click UA ID Number and Username.

- Your current name, UA ID, and UA Username will be displayed. If the name represents a name change, you will see a button that will allow you to generate a new username.
Note
If you do not see a Submit button to request the generation of a new UA Username it means that a request to update your legal name has either not been submitted, or is still being reviewed/processed.

- Click Submit button to generate a new UA Username.
- Write-down your newly generated username.
- In the upper right of the browser, click LOG OUT.

Important
It can take up to 2 days for the new username to become fully functioning. We recommend to continue using your existing/old username until you no longer have access. At that time, your newly generated username and existing password should now work.
