The University of Alaska (UA) and University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) licenses and supports several software products for UA faculty and staff. Employee software support includes updates and patches for operating systems and supported software titles.

Employee Software Support Levels
IT Services will give its best effort to resolve all software issues for employees. The IT Technical Support Center will provide troubleshooting for most software issues at no cost.
For software issues that cannot be resolved by the Technical Support Center, tickets will be escalated to the appropriate group within IT Services for further troubleshooting. The average turnaround time for tickets is between one and three business days.
Software Support Levels

The software vendor will provide incident support, security updates, and non-security hotfixes. The mainstream support dates in the charts below are the vendor's published lifecycle support dates. If the vendor does not publish their lifecycle support dates, the date will be based on the vendor's past support lifecycle history. |
| UAA IT Support |
UAA IT support is based on the vendor's support lifecycle. IT will provide sufficient notice through this webpage if a piece of software is nearing the end of its support lifecycle. In some cases, IT may provide extended support for a piece of software that exceeds the manufacturer's lifecycle. Extended support may include limited or no network access. |
Employee Software Support: macOS
Apple does not publish the support lifecycle for its operating systems; however, new macOS versions typically launch during the third quarter of each year. It is UAA IT practice to support the latest (n), and immediate previous (n-1) versions of the macOS, and discontinue support for any operating system versions outside of this window at the beginning of each new calendar year (e.g. January 1).

Employee Software Support: Windows OS
It is UAA IT practice to support the latest (n), and immediate previous (n-1) of the H2/long-term servicing release (LTSC) versions of the Windows OS, and discontinue support for any operating system versions outside of this window at the beginning of each new calendar year (e.g. January 1) as closely as possible; however, IT will work with departments to support software that falls outside of these parameters in cases where mission critical dependencies prohibit updating a devices operating system.
Important
In general, the university only supports the Pro, and Enterprise editions of the Windows operating system on university owned computers.
