Domain Name System (DNS)

The Domain Name System (DNS) is the phonebook of the Internet. Humans access information online through domain names, like www.uaa.alaska.edu, or classes.alaska.edu; however, most software, such as web browsers, interact through Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. DNS translates domain names to IP addresses so software can load Internet resources.

Remote Access VPN

The Remote Access VPN (Virtual Private Network) service allows authenticated users to securely access the UAA network from outside of campus, as if they were on campus, and encrypts the information sent to the network. The VPN service allows authorized users a way to connect into the campus network in order to access resources generally unavailable to users not on the campus network.

Wired Network

Information regarding wired network across the UAA campuses.

Wireless Network

Information regarding wireless network, often referred to as WiFi, across the UAA campuses.
